শিল্প উদ্যোক্তারা ‘বর্ষপণ্য’ ঘোষণার সিদ্ধান্তে সরকারি পৃষ্ঠপোষকতার আশায় বুক বাঁধেন। কিন্তু তিনমাস না পেরুতেই স্বপ্নভঙ্গ হয় তাদের। কোভিডের হানায় গোটা বিশ্বের মতো টালমাটাল হয়ে যায় তামাম দেশ। ‘বর্ষপণ্য’ ঘোষণার বছরেই করোনার থাবায় হোচট খান এই শিল্পের উদ্যোক্তারা। করোনার ধাক্কা সামলে ঘুরে দাঁড়ানোর চেষ্টার সময়ই বড় আরেক ধাক্কা এসে পড়ে এই শিল্পের কাঁচামালের লাগামছাড়া মূল্য বৃদ্ধিতে।

যশোর লাইট অটোমোবাইল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং মালিক সমিতির নবনির্বাচিত সভাপতি মোহাম্মদ আলী জানান, এই শিল্পের প্রধান কাঁচামাল লোহার দাম কেজিপ্রতি ৫০ টাকা থেকে বেড়ে ৮৫-৯০ টাকা হয়েছে। একইভাবে ৬০ টাকার প্রতিপিস প্লেনশিট ১৭০ টাকা, ৫৫-৬০ টাকার প্রতিপিস এঙ্গেল ৮০-৮৫ টাকায় ঠেকেছে। এতে উৎপাদন খরচ বৃদ্ধি পাওয়ায় পণ্যের চাহিদা কমে গেছে।

যশোর লাইট অটোমোবাইল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং মালিক সমিতির সদ্যবিদায়ী সভাপতি আশরাফুল ইসলাম বাবু বলেন, ভারত-চায়না থেকে আগে পাথরভাঙ্গা মেশিন আসতো বাংলাদেশে। তাদের প্রতিষ্ঠান রিপন ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ওয়ার্কসপে তৈরি সেই পাথরভাঙ্গা মেশিনই ভারতে রফতানি শুরু করেন তারা। দেশেও প্রচুর চাহিদা ছিল এই মেশিনের। কিন্তু আদালতের আদেশে পাথর তোলা বন্ধ হয়ে যাওয়ায় দেশে মেশিনের চাহিদা আর নেই। আবার বর্তমানে ভারত থেকে আগে আস্ত পাথর দেশে আসার পর ভাঙা হতো বলে এখানেও মেশিন দরকার হতো। কিন্তু ভাঙা পাথর দেশে আমদানির পাশাপাশি ভারতে মেশিনের উৎপাদন বেড়ে যাওয়ায় এখন এই মেশিন উৎপাদনের প্রয়োজনীয়তা ফুরিয়ে গেছে।

সূত্র জানায়, সারাদেশে প্রায় এক হাজার ছোট, মাঝারি ও বৃহৎ ফাউন্ড্রি শিল্প রয়েছে। প্রায় ৩ লক্ষ মানুষ এবং উদ্ভাবনী উদ্যোক্তারা সক্রিয়ভাবে বাংলাদেশের ফাউন্ড্রি শিল্পের সাথে জড়িত। মূলত ঢাকা, বগুড়া ও যশোর জেলায় ফাউন্ড্রি শিল্প অবস্থিত। যশোরে আধুনিক বৃহৎ আকারে এ শিল্প স্থাপন করা হয়েছে। দেশের ফাউন্ড্রি শপ বা ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ওয়ার্কশপগুলোতে প্রায় ৫শ’ ধরনের পণ্য উৎপাদন হয়। এর মধ্যে শুধুমাত্র গাড়ির পার্টসই উৎপাদিত হয় শতাধিক ধরনের। যার মধ্যে গাড়ির ব্রেকড্রাম, পেসারপ্লেট, গিয়ারবক্স, ব্রেকডিস্ক, ইঞ্জিন হাউজিং, হ্যাঙ্গার, গিয়ার বক্সের বডি অন্যতম। সর্বনিম্ন ৫শ’ টাকা থেকে ৫ হাজার টাকা দাম এসব পার্টসের। এখানকার সবধরনের গাড়ির ড্রাম যাচ্ছে সারা দেশে। স্বনামধন্য পরিবহন ব্যবসায়ী থেকে শুরু করে স্থানীয় রুটের গাড়ির মালিকরা এসব পার্টস ব্যবহার করছেন।

এছাড়া শিল্প ও ওয়ার্কশপ মেশিনারি, অটোমোবাইল, স্পেয়ার পার্টস, কৃষি যন্ত্রপাতি ও খুচরা যন্ত্রাংশ, লৌহঘটিত ও অলৌহঘটিত কাস্টিং পণ্য, ছাঁচ ও ডাই, নির্মাণ যন্ত্রপাতি, জুট, রাইস ও সিমেন্ট মিলের খুচরা যন্ত্রাংশ, জাহাজ ও ফিশিং ট্রলারের খুচরা যন্ত্রাংশ, মুদ্রণ ও প্যাকেজিং যন্ত্রপাতি, মেশিন ও সরঞ্জামের প্রায় সকল বিভাগের জন্য খুচরা যন্ত্রাংশ, রুটি-বিস্কুট কারখানার যন্ত্রপাতি, পশুর ফিড কারখানার যন্ত্রপাতি, ময়দা কল যন্ত্রপাতি, নলকূপ, চা বাগান ও কারখানার যন্ত্রপাতি, টেক্সটাইল কারখানার খুচরা যন্ত্রাংশ প্রভৃতি উৎপাদিত হয় এখানকার কারখানায়।
